Christopher Sims will be teaching Publishing and Promoting Your Doc on the Web in the fall 2011 term for the Continuing Education program at the Center for Documentary Studies. To learn more about the course and to register, please visit the Continuing Education registration site.
Christopher Sims has an undergraduate degree in history from Duke University, a master’s degree in visual communication from UNC–Chapel Hill, and an M.F.A. in studio art from the Maryland Institute College of Art. He has worked as a photo archivist at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, and at CDS, he coordinated the exhibition and awards programs. He currently designs the CDS website. His most recent exhibitions include shows at SF Camerawork, the Griffin Museum of Photography, the Houston Center for Photography, the Light Factory, the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, and the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art. His project on Guantanamo Bay was featured in the Washington Post, the BBC World Service, Roll Call, and Flavorwire. He is represented by Ann Stewart Fine Art in Chapel Hill, N.C., Civilian Art Projects in Washington, D.C., and Clark Gallery in Boston, Mass. Publishing and Promoting Your Doc on the Web

Course fee: $80
In this course each student will meet individually with the instructor to prepare a video, photo essay, audio piece, or other project from a CDS Continuing Education course for presentation online. You will receive feedback on your written artist/project statement, advice on selecting the right online publishing platform, and guidance for readying your work for optional inclusion on the CDS Porch blog, the CDS iTunes U site, the CDS Vimeo page, and for promotion via CDS’s social media channels. Open to students who have completed a CDS Continuing Education course and either have a finished project from a class or are working on their final project for the Certificate in Documentary Arts.
