Visual Storytelling
All Levels | Taught by Meg Daniels
September 23–25, 2011
Center for Documentary Studies, Duke University
Course fee: $270

This workshop introduces principles and techniques of visual storytelling and explores how photographers impact viewers through a single image (or multiple frames) by stimulating change, influencing emotions, and educating them in ways that can’t be achieved by words alone. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a good understanding of visual storytelling through still photographic images and will leave with a personal sense of style and aesthetics. Through class/personal shooting exercises and objectives, and in classroom conversations, we will pursue the art of storytelling with our cameras. Please note: A basic knowledge of photography is helpful.
